Cookie and Leo, the Wonder Beagles

With their hearty voices and clear intentions, beagles are truly the "communicators" of the canine world. In 1994, the first, glorious little hound entered my life. Cookie the Beagle was an amazing soul, and was one of my greatest role models for love and personal authenticity. You always knew what was on her mind, and what she wanted, whether it was a walk, a nap, a treat, or a comfy blanket. After a valiant struggle against cancer and kidney disease, Cookie passed in August 2007. She will never be forgotten. In honor of her memory and all that she brought to my life, I adopted a new beagle puppy named Leo, who recently celebrated his first birthday. As personalities go, Leo and Cookie are vastly different; Leo's a rescue, and his lessons for me have been primarily about living life with pure exuberance and joy.
